Since thinning out hair isn't shortening the length but actually just thinning it out, you can't really see it but you can definitely feel the difference. Unless you have a lot of thick hair like me I wouldnt' really worry about it. Just make sure the stylist doesn't thin out the top layer of your hair because then thats how you get a crap load of hair sticking out all over the place.
